Fire in Tangdhar market
Army Averts Major Blaze
Tangdhar, Feb 19: A shop was gutted in a fire that broke out in Tangdhar market on intervening night of February 18-19.
According to a defence PRO statement, the alertness and prompt reaction of Tangdhar Garrison prevented fire in Aijaz Footwear Shop in the market from spreading to the adjacent shops and preventing additional loss of property and thus provided succour to many shopkeepers whose shops were saved.
“Despite the inclement weather and freezing temperatures, a column of troops was immediately launched,” said the statement.
They found fire and smoke billowing out from Aijaz Footwear Shop, owned by Eijaz Ahmed Mir, son of Rafiq Mir, resident of Tangdhar. The alert column commander activated the Fire Brigade and Police to arrive at the scene and prevent it from engulfing the neighboring shops in the market saving massive losses.
