Waheed Jeelani awarded

Srinagar Feb 19: Noted singer and music composer, Waheed Jeelani has been awarded "A" Top grade by the Director General All India Radio, New Delhi.
 Jeelani has been awarded in recognition to his contribution, efforts and service in the field of Kashmiri Music and for its revival, promotion and preservation.
 “He is the only Kashmiri light music vocalist/singer artist of J&K who has been honored with this Grade/honor. He has been contributing to the field of art culture from the last more than 22 years. He has conducted several shows, workshops and festivals for the promotion of Kashmiri music and to provide an appropriate platform to young and promising artists of Jammu & Kashmir,” a statement said.
 Recently, Jeelani organised several fund raising music shows for specially abled children and orphans of Kashmir, the statement added.
