Crackdown on black-marketers, 6 butchers arrested
‘Feel free to register complaints at nearest police station’

Srinagar, Feb 20: Amid complaints of shortage of mutton and other livestock in the City markets, the police Monday claimed to have arrested six butchers for selling mutton at allegedly exorbitant prices.
A police handout said: “A special drive against black-marketing was conducted by north City police team headed by SDPO MR Gung, Dawood Ayub.”
“Six butchers were arrested from Safakadal, Noorbagh, Chattabal and Nowakadal areas who were selling the meat at very high prices and exploiting the general public,” the police handout added.
The joint team consisting of SHO Safakadal, Duty Officer of Noorbagh and Chattabal, carried out extensive checking and arrested the accused. Cases have been registered against the accused.
Meanwhile the SP north City Shoket Shah has appealed the consumers to contact the nearest police station.
“The general public has been requested to contact the nearest police station in case of any complaints regarding black-marketing and profiteering so that the menace is eradicated,” the police handout said.
