Srinagar, Feb 20: Prominent Supreme Court lawyer Dayan Krishnan who has worked with country’s elite National Investigative Agency and the CBI, on Monday delivered a lecture to Kashmir police top-brass during a daylong extensive workshop at IMPA in the City.
A police handout said: “The lecture comprised of two presentations entitled- Proof of electronic documents in the light of Information Technology Act and Unlawful activities Prevention act- Issues and Prospectives; A power point presentation was presented by a leading legal luminary and a practicing Supreme Court Advocate Dayan Krishnan.”
“Krishnan has previously worked with the NIA and CBI also, and has a good experience on anti-terrorism laws,” it added.
“The speaker deliberated on topics, in length and breadth, and made special emphasis in the backdrop of increasing graph in cyber crime.”
He acquainted the participants with the importance of Information Technology Act and its related laws for effectively dealing with cyber crimes.
He said: “Computer crime is a burgeoning area of criminality that is difficult to investigate and prosecute. Criminals from across the country and around the world are taking advantage of the relative anonymity provided by the internet to compromise our critical infrastructure, obtain trade secrets, intrude into bank accounts, and steal the personal and financial information of ordinary citizens.”
This was followed by a question and answer session. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Shiv Murari Sahai, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range- Abdul Gani Mir, Senior Superintendent of Police, District Srinagar and Budgam, Syed Ashique Hussain Bukhari, Uttam Chand, and staff officer to IGP Kashmir Zone, Syed Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Andrabi were prominent among those present on the occasion.
