Jammu, Feb 22: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir has stressed upon the J&K State Agro Industries Development Corporation Ltd (AIDCL) to expand its business activities by way of providing marketing opportunities to the farmers.
The Minister was speaking at the 60th Board of Directors Meeting of the Corporation here this morning.
Principal Secretary Finance, M I Khanday, Commissioner secretary Agriculture production, Navin Chowdhary, Director Agriculture Jammu, Ajay Khajuria, Director Agriculture Kashmir & MD J K AIDCL, Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, Director Animal Husbandry Jammu, S L Tikoo, Director Animal Husbandry Kashmir, Farooq Ahmad Kaloo, Chief Manager NABARD, S C Rabra and representatives of Horticulture, Planning, and Industries and Commerce were present in the BODs meeting.
The Minister said that the prime objective of the corporation is to attain profitability in its business activities besides to provide an opportunity to the farmers to market their products and help them to strengthen their economic status.
He asked the management to approach NAPCON- the consultancy division of NABARD, to prepare DPR of various proposed projects adding that NABARD has already agreed to fund the projects. He said this would further help the Corporation to strengthen its financial condition in coming years.
Besides taking various crucial decisions, the BOD approved the proposed projects including setting up of 5000 MT Cold Storage at Shopian & Sopore, 2000 MT Cold Storage at Khonmoh, 2000 MT Multi Chamber Additional Cold Storage at Delhi and modernization of existing Cold Storage Plant, besides setting up of Multi Chamber, Multipurpose Cold Storage at Bari Brahmana, Jammu, Capacity expansion of existing Cattle Feed Plant at Bari Brahamana, Jammu, Food Processing plant for production of Potato Chips and Cattle Feed Plant in Pulwama .
