Srinagar, Feb 22: Burglars sneaked into a house at Shah Anwar Colony, Hyderpora stealing cash, jewellery and goods worth thousands of rupees, the family said.
The burglars sneaked into the house of Advocate Mir Hafizullah at around 1 PM on Tuesday when the family was out.
“I was in the Court and the rest of the family had gone for some work. On returning home, they saw the glass door had been broken,” he said.
“Around ten thousand rupees cash and jewellery was stolen,” Hafiz said adding the burglars had broken doors of all rooms stealing some important documents as well.
The lawyer accused police of making him wait for two hours to get the case registered.
When contacted, Duty Officer, Humhama Police Post, Ghulam Jeelani Masoodi refuted that there was any delay on the part of cops in registering the compliant adding that the case was being probed. “We’ve a round-the-clock team which people can consult anytime,” he said.
The SHO said the burglars often attack houses which remain abandoned. “We need support of locals to curb the problem; people should cooperate with us,” he added
