M Y Taing to be Dy Chairman LC
Jammu, Feb 22: National Conference (NC) Wednesday said that senior party leader and MLC M Y Taing would be new Deputy Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council.
"We will nominate Taing to the post of Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council", NC President Farooq Abdullah told reporters here.
Congress has already nominated its candidate Amrit Malhotra for the chairman’s post.
Taing was former secretary of Cultural Academy and worked closely with former chief minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah in compilation of Aatish-e-Chinar.
Talking to KNS Taing confirmed he has been nominated. “I have 11 years of experience as MLC and I will try my best to run the House in accordance with the constitution,” he said.
“I am hopeful all the members will cooperate with me in running the business of the House smoothly,” he added.
