PDP asks Govt to rectify ‘defective’ delimitation of JMC wards
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Feb 22: Charging National Conference led coalition regime with conducting what it termed as irrational delimitation of wards in Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that the party would see to it till the discrepancies are not removed before announcing elections of the civic bodies.
A PDP spokesman said in a statement that the party observed that deserving areas of the Jammu city have been deliberately ignored while carving out new cards of JMC, reasons best known to the ruling party.
PDP leaders pointed out that for the last two years the coalition government has been postponing civic bodies elections without any reasons while on the other hand they state government has conducted faulty delimitation to debar democratic rights to many deserving areas of Jammu city.
PDP leaders pointed out that deserving areas like Sunjwan, Bithandi and its adjoining localities were excluded from the JMC which authenticated that delimitation process was defective and full of discrepancies. They said that these areas have been fast developing colonies of the city but have been excluded from municipal limits. “We failed to under stand why these most deserving areas have been excluded”, they said and smelt a deep rooted conspiracy in conduct defective delimitation process in the city.
“There is no fun of conducting civic bodies elections especially of JMC without including all deserving areas because these areas too deserve basic civic amenities like other parts of the city”, they said and warned that PDP would mobilize public against this bias and discrimiantroy attitude of the state government.
PDP leaders said that during the last five years Sunjwan and Bithandi areas have developed very fast and the winter capital of the city has been extending towards this side. “We think that conducting JMC elections without including such deserving areas would be proved a futile exercise”, they said. The signatories of the statement are former Minister Rangil Singh, Ved Mahajan, Daman Bhasin and R K Bali.
