Jammu, Feb 24: State cabinet Friday approved Transfer of Property (Amendment) Bill – to be tabled before the state legislature during the ongoing budget session – while proposed J&K Nursing Council Bill was sent to a high level committee, which has been asked to examine the matter in detail and submit report to the government.
Official sources said the cabinet, which met here today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, accorded approval to the amendments proposed in the Transfer of Property Act.
The Bill, they said, was aimed at incorporating the provisions for enabling the newly formed Chenab Valley Power Projects Private Limited (CVPPL) – a joint venture between PDC and NHPC – to get the lease hold rights of the land, to be used for the construction of new power projects, for 99 years.
“As per the existing provisions, the Corporation was enable to get the lease hold rights of the land only for a period of 40 years”, sources said adding, “The Amendment Bill proposes change in the existing clauses of Section 140 TPA”.
Meanwhile, the cabinet decided to constitute a high level committee to examine the proposed Bill seeking constitution of Nursing Council in the state.
As already reported by Greater Kashmir, the health department was contemplating to introduce J&K Nursing Council Bill, for constitution of Nursing Council in the state. The Council would enable registration of the institutes, imparting nursing courses, in the state. Presently the nursing institutes and the nursing qualified persons are to get registration from Punjab.
Sources claimed that the decision to refer the proposed bill to the committee was taken in view of the certain discrepancies found in the draft. “The Committee will examine the matter and report to the cabinet within one week so that the Bill can again come up for the approval before the cabinet”, sources said.
They added that the meeting also accorded sanction to the establishment of Maternity Hospital in Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
