Omar weakest CM: Mehbooba
AKSHAY AZAD
Jammu, Feb 24: Making a scathing attack on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his failure to take action against the corrupt ministers, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti today said that Omar is weakest CM in the history of entire country.
Talking to reporters after staging walkout from the Legislative Assembly, Mehbooba said, “Omar as a person can have strong links in Delhi or with national media but as a head of the state he has become the weakest CM not only in the history of J&K but in the history of entire country”.
She alleged that Omar was not in a condition to make his own ministers accountable for the bunglings committed by them, what than he will do for the state. “He has lost moral authority to rule the state”, she said.
She said majority of cabinet ministers are knee-deep involved in corruption and there are number of cases pending against them in State Accountability Commission (SAC). “The money coming for the development of state or for providing basic amenities including water, power and road connectivity to the masses is being siphoned off by the ministers. Many of them have constructed palatial houses in and outside the country by misusing the public money,” she lamented.
“Corruption has become a policy matter of the present government. An era has started in the state that whatever crime the ministers commit, no one will be made accountable”, she alleged.
She said, “I don’t think you can hold anyone accountable as long as the Chief Minister who is head of the government is in the dock himself” she rued, adding that Omar is being suspected of murder while there were charges of corruption against him and his father, for taking money for MLC seats and ministerial berths.
