Opposition divided
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Feb 24: Despite hue and cry over the prevailing corruption in the state, the opposition parties were visibly divided in the State Assembly on the first day of the annual budget session with the opposition parties BJP and NPP choosing to stay out of the adjournment motion moved by PDP.
Though the Speaker foiled all attempts by PDP to get the business of the House adjourned over the alleged large-scale corruption, the ruckus created by the party almost disrupted the initial hours of the proceedings in LA. While the PDP MLAs were up in arms with an attempt to corner the government over the recent allegations of corruption against some of the ministers in the government, the other opposition members from BJP, NPP, CPI (M) and JSM were almost unmoved and unconcerned over the issue.
“The opposition parties are clearly divided in the House and this will clearly benefit the government, which was on back-foot over various issues”, an opposition MLA was heard telling a NPP MLA outside the assembly complex.
There were several attempts some of the PDP MLAs to take other opposition members into confidence over the issues but visibly of no success.
