No talks till Delhi accepts Kashmir as dispute: Geelani
GK CORRESPONDENT
Srinagar, Feb 27: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Monday said that his conglomerate won’t engage in any sort of parleys with New Delhi till it acknowledges Kashmir as a dispute.
Talking to Greater Kashmir over phone from New Delhi Geelani said, “We had put forward five conditions for talks in August 2010 and our first condition was that India should accept Kashmir as a dispute.”
He said the “bilateral talks” during past 60-years had proved futile. “Nothing can be achieved through talks till New Delhi gives up its rigidity and acknowledges ground realities,” Geelani said. “We are not averse to parleys but we don’t want to hold talks for the sake of talks.”
He said during his 2-month stay in New Delhi he met people from various shades of opinion and apprised them about the Kashmir situation.
Asked would he visit Pakistan as the Pak Foreign Minister Hina Rabani Khar has extended a formal invitation to him, Geelani said, “We will discuss the issue during the meeting of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and decide accordingly.”
