Hamza Mohalla in troubled waters
SYED IMRAN ALI HAMDANI
Srinagar, Feb 2: Residents of Hamza Mohalla, Umar Colony A, Lal Bazar in the City are virtually living in inhuman conditions as the area has been waterlogged for the last several months.
A delegation from the locality said: “The drainage work was started in the area in 2008 but is still incomplete as the residential outlets haven’t been connected to the drains.”
“But some people have forcibly connected their sewage pipes to the drain and all this has lead to mess because of sewage overflow.”
“As of now the water has been seeping into our compound walls causing dampness,” they added.
Given the nearing spring the residents said there is every possibility of outbreak of water borne diseases in the area.
They appealed the District Development Commissionair Baseer Ahmed Khan to look into the matter.
