Mirwaiz, thanks Pakistan for supporting Kashmir movement
Srinagar, Feb 4: The Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Muhammad Umar Farooq has on behalf of people of Kashmir thanked the people, government and other political parties of Pakistan their continued political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle despite various pulls and pressures from, what he said, external forces.
In a statement issued today regarding the Kashmir Solidarity Day being observed in Pakistan on February 5, Mirwaiz said Pakistan had been from the day one advocating and pleading for the Kashmiris’ right of self-determination. He said, “The former prime minister of Pakistan and founder of Pakistan Peoples’ Party Shaheed Zulfkar Ali Bhutto had started to observe Yoom-i-Kashmir on February 5, 1975, in Pakistan to express solidarity with the Kashmiris and to highlight the Kashmir issue on international level. In response, the Shaheed-i-Milat Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Farooq called for complete shutdown on this day and the people in Kashmir observed an exemplary shutdown. Since that day, Pakistan has been observing February 5, as Kashmir Solidarity Day every year.”
“The people of whole Kashmir are praying for Pakistan’s safety, stability and prosperity,” Mirwaiz said, adding that Kashmiris will continue their struggle until the Kashmir issue is resolved in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of its people.
