Wathoora-Banhaar road in shambles
Budgam, Feb 6: Two years after the Roads and Buildings department (R&B) began work on the one kilometer Wathoora-Banhar link road in Budgam district, the project is still incomplete, with the executing agency failing to construct few retaining walls.
According to the locals, the R&B authorities initiated metalling and soling work on the road around one and a half year back. “But that has not been fully completed up to the main Banhaar village and has been left midway,” said Ayaz Ahmad a local resident of the area.
“The people are suffering immensely as the R&B authorities have left the work incomplete in the area. The concerned department has dumped the raw material (stones, sand etc) for construction of retaining walls on a piece of agriculture land around one and a half years back. But one fails to understand as to why the work is not being started yet. The land owner is not able to use the land for cultivation purposes and is suffering loses on account of that,” Ayaz added.
DDC BUDGAM ASSURES ACTION
The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, Muhammad Rafi said that he has taken up the matter with Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir and the Chief Engineer has assured him that the matter will be looked.
