Keep check on eve-teasing: Div Com directs police

HAILS NORTH CITY COPS FOR NABBING MISCREANTS

GK NEWS NETWORK

Srinagar, Feb 7: Divisional Commissioner, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Tuesday directed the City police to keep a tight vigil outside coaching centres so that no eve-teasing incidents popup from anywhere and girl students feel secured to venture out.
“Dr Samoon gave directions to police to increase vigil around tuition centres located at Bagat Barzulla, Parray Pora and Karan Nagar, so that female students can feel safe and secure,” an official handout said.
Dr Samoon urged parents to give moral counselling to their children so that the menace of eve-teasing can be eradicated.
He assured that action would be taken against anyone found indulging in eve-teasing.
He said that complaints can be lodged with Police Control Room on Phone No 100.
Meanwhile he appreciated the north City police particularly SDPO Khanyar, Tahir Saleem and his team for nabbing eve-teasers in Khanyaar area of old City, the Shaher-e-Khaas.
Some two months back, on Airport Port road in south City –considered a hub of coaching centres –the then SPDO Sadder, Shabir Shah had called a joint meeting of coaching centre owners resolving that there would be no co-education classes adding that flying squads would keep an eye to check any eve teasing in the area. His endeavour was widely hailed that time.
