Nagam, Budgam, Feb 8: Sarpanchs and Panchs of Budgam district have urged the Government to oversee the appointment procedure of Anganwari helpers by revisting the process and ensuring that qualified persons are selected for the job.
The demand was made at an interactive session between the officers of District administration Budgam and elected panchayat representatives of block Nagam and Chadoora which was held here on Wednesday.
Nearly 350 Panchs and Sarpanchs and district and block level officers of various departments participated in the day- long programme.
They demanded that awareness campaign should be launched about the J&K Panchayati Raj Act 1989 at village level.
Some Panchayat members grilled officials of ICDS for not implementing their recommendations with regard to creation of new Anganwari centres in block Nagam.
“Sarpanchs and Panchs recommended genuine qualified persons for being appointed as Anganwari helpers,” said a member Shahnawaz Sultan.
Among others who addressed the gathering included Assistant Commissioner (T) Dr Shah Faesal, BMO Nagam, Programme Officer ICDS Budgam Nazir Ahmad, BDO Chadoora, and other block level officers of PHE, R&B, ICDS, Social Welfare, Health, Rural Development, Animal Husbandry, Sheep husbandry, CAPD, and Revenue departments.
