Growers allege denial of accommodation in KGD

Srinagar, Feb 8: A group of fruit growers on Wednesday alleged they were denied accommodation at Kisan Ghar Delhi.
The group alleged that influential people not even remotely connected with the fruit business were being provided accommodation by Horticulture Department officials in the KGD, while the ‘deserving ones were denied.’
“I approached the officials to provide accommodation to me but they denied citing that the rooms was already booked,” said Khursheed Ahmad Dar, a fruit grower from Ladoora Rafiabad. When contacted, Director Horticulture (P&M) Javaid Ahmad Khan said: “I will look into the matter.”
Pertinently Kisan Ghar Delhi which has 24 rooms was constructed to provide accommodation to the fruit growers of the valley during their stay in New Delhi.  The department of Horticulture (P&M) was given charge of the premises and the growers were asked to pay nominal charges for their stay in Kisan Ghar.
