29 killed in Pakistan market blast

Islamabad, Jan 10: At least 29 persons were killed and 40 injured in a bomb blast at a taxi stand of a market in a town in northwest Pakistan Tuesday.
 Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the blast that occurred in the morning at the taxi stand, located in the market of Jamrud town, in northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency, Xinhua reported citing PTV.
 A remote-controlled bomb was placed near a pick-up van at a bus stop, Geo News reported citing sources.
 Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani issued statements condemning the bomb attack, Xinhua said.
 Seven vehicles were reportedly destroyed and a nearby fuel station was also damaged in the bombing attack.
 The wounded were rushed to hospitals in neighbouring Peshawar city, 20 km from Khyber agency.
 Those killed included three paramilitary soldiers, said local media. IANS
