Jammu, Jan 10: J&K State Overseas Employment Corporation Ltd (JKSOEC) opened its office in New Delhi on Tuesday, an official spokesman said.
He said the Corporation set up by the government in 2009 was incorporated as company under the companies Act, 1965 on October 13, 2010 by the Registrar of Companies, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.
“The corporation mandated to handle matters of employment opportunities within and outside the country has made its New Delhi office functional at Nehru Place which shall serve as Nodal Office for tying up with foreign job markets, employer organizations, embassies etc,” he added.
The corporation, he said, is recently being registered as Recruiting Agent under the Emigration Act 1983 which shall enable it to seek employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the state outside the country.
“The corporation is in the process of establishing Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in collaboration with International Organization for Migration (IOM) and Ministry of Indian Overseas Affairs in the state. The centre shall be provided counselling related to legal requirements of foreign employers and countries, work opportunities, conducting information campaign, verification of credentials, setting up helpline etc,” he said. “The corporation in assistance with IOM shall also be undertaking skill certification for various trades required for validation purposes for easy employability of the unemployed youth overseas,” he added.
“District Employment and Counselling Centres, functioning as front ends of the corporation in the state has already enrolled 760 candidates ranging from doctors, engineers to unskilled persons for which employment potential is being assessed for their suitable placement,” he said.
“The corporation in collaboration with Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants Limited organized recruitment of doctors and nurses in the Ministry of Health, Government of Saudi Arabia. Out of 36 applicants, 17 doctors and 4 nurses were selected for their respective placement in the Saudi Arabia. A massive campaign is in the offing for creating awareness among the youth regarding different facets of migration and skills in demand among the foreign employers,” the spokesman added.
