Monitor functioning of GMC hospitals: Chib
Srinagar, Jan 10: The Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R S Chib today asked District Development Commissioner, Srinagar to keep a close watch on the functioning on the four associated hospitals of the Government Medical College here.
Chairing a high level meeting at Winter Secretariat here, Chib asked the DDC to monitor SMHS, Lal Ded, Bones and Joint and G B Panth Hospitals so that the people may not face any inconvenience in getting medicare.
He asked the higher authorities of the Medical department to check regularly the functioning of the Primary Health Centres. He stressed for making them more effective and fully functional so that over burden of referred cases to the city hospitals may be reduced gradually.
Earlier, Chib made a surprise inspection of Bone and Joint Hospital, Barzulla and G B Panth Hospital. He interacted with the patients and inquired about the healthcare facilities being provided to them including facilities in the emergency and heating arrangements.
The Minister during his inspection at Bone & Joint Hospital was informed that 50 to 60 patients are being admitted to hospital daily and are being provided good health care facilities.
The Minister assured that adequate medicare would be provided to the patients and instructed the concerned authorities to ensure that proper arrangements and facilities are made.
Meanwhile, the Minister asked the hospital administration to submit a proposal for construction of attendant shed with toilet facilities in the Hospital complex, so that the people may not suffer any more.
During the meeting held to discuss issues including latest supply position of CA&PD, restoration of power supply, drinking water, Dewatering and restoration of transport facilities, snow clearance, availability of Gas, Kerosene oil, vegetables etc, it was informed that drinking water supply in Srinagar city has been restored while generating sets were also pressed into service at many Pump Houses for improving the water supply.
Chib said the Chief Minister had been personally monitoring the situation in the valley and had made all efforts to address the problem of the people. He also appreciated the efforts of the administration in providing relief to the people by restoration of essential supplies.
The Minister was informed about the various steps taken by the administration and told that 93 snow clearance machines were pressed into services throughout the Valley and almost all the roads have been cleared from the snow.
The Minister was informed that there is buffer stock available with CA&PD and presently 24400 quintals of rice, 900 quintals of sugar, 36,000 quintals Atta, 4848 kiloliters of kerosene oil and adequate Gas cylinders are in stock with CA&PD.
