Election for LC Chairman on Feb 17
Jammu, Jan 11: The Governor on Wednesday decided to fix 17th February, 2012 as the date for holding the election of the Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, an official spokesman said.
He said the members of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council are therefore informed to make it convenient to attend the meeting of the Legislative Council at the appointed date.
“In this connection, this attention is invited to sub-rule (2) of the rule 7 of the rules of procedure and conduct of business in the Jammu and Kashmir legislative Council. At any time before noon on the day preceding the date so fixed, any member may give notice in writing addressed to the secretary, of a motion that another member be chosen as the chairman of the council, and the notice shall be seconded by third member and shall be accompanied by a statement by the member whose name is proposed in the notice that he is willing to serve as the Chairman, if elected. Provided that a member shall not propose or second more than one motion,” the spokesman added.
