KU hosts Fantoosh

Srinagar, Jan 11: “Winter freezes life in Kashmir and youth has tried to infuse warmth and vigour to life by organizing Fantooosh, the winter festival, which is appreciable”.
 This was stated by Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir Wednesday while addressing the audience at Fantoosh, Jaishn-e-Chilliakallan, the winter festival organized at Convocation Complex of Kashmir University, at which Minister was the chief guest.
 First of its kind, the Fantoosh winter festival was organized by Time Code An Art House and Pied Piper Theatre Productions.
 The organizers while giving an introduction said that the objective of organizing the winter festival was to “revive Kashmiri culture, language and folk theatre and provide some moments of relief to the population facing numerous problems in chilly weather.”
 The highlights of the winter festival was mimicry show Kashmiri folk music, folk theatre presentation and a ramp walk by models dressed in traditional Kashmiri costumes.
 The special feature of the festival was performance by specially abled children of Kashmir University Model School, Hazratbal and CRC, Bemina.
 The Inspector General of Police, Shiv Murari Sahai was guest of honour on the function while Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Ashiq Hussain Bukhari and Joint Director Information, Kashmir, Itrat Hussain Rafiquee were present on the occasion.
