Hats off to shining stars (Toppers 10th Standard), who unlike others may not go alongwith the flow. Scoring 500/500 or 1-499/500, is itself the originality, but lack of divergent thinking is oblivious as per the present system of imparting education is concerned in our state, where performance of any pupil or student is analysed by check system which actually is a test of memory power. Although memory is the supreme cognitive faculty to drive anybody to top, but other associates like originality and divergent thinking  along with this memory is a higher level, for which students should be stimulated and  constantly sensitized, like one cannot forget noble laureate Micheal Faraday who introduced Electromagnetic induction, but he used to forget even written things to buy from market. An important aspect we are lacking here is promotion of thought originality, a pearl where the innovations and inventions come which later on slowly ease our lives.
Making divergent thinkers must have divergent thinking teachers, where a major barrier is defensive teaching, which provides a closet for students work for long period of time with low demand and just passive input, but originality thrives where there is time to explore, experiment and brainstorm. Divergent thinking is shown when children generate ideas, show imagination and originality, and can judge the value of what they have done. What promotes creativity is a questioning classroom, where teachers and pupils value diversity, ask unusual and challenging questions; make new connections; represent ideas in different ways – visually, physically and verbally; try fresh approaches and solutions to problems; and critically evaluate new ideas and actions.
