Rushdie visit non issue for Muslims: CM
Jammu, Jan 11: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that issuing visa by Indian government to controversial author Salman Rushdie is not an election issue for Muslims as they are more concerned with their day-to-day affairs.
“I think Muslims in India are more concerned over their daily issues rather than have concern for visa being given to Rushdie,” Omar said.
The Chief Minister said that this is not the first time that Rushdie is coming to India.
“As far as I know he has earlier also visited the country and the issue is being raised because of Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. “Why suddenly is it becoming an issue, there are some people who want to exploit this situation for political purposes.”
