PFL condemns raid

Srinagar: The Peoples’ Freedom League secretary general, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai has strongly condemned the police raid on the residence of its senior leader, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah.
In a statement, Ganai alleged that the police and other armed forces had started harassing the pro-freedom leaders and activists in Valley in run up to the January 26. He said, “Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah is a political leader and is associated with PFL for the past 10 years. He is doing all his activities at political level.”
Gania alleged that the detainees in Srinagar Central Jail were facing lot of hardships due to non-availability of power supply and heating arrangements. “The health of the most of the detainees has deteriorated due to prevailing sub-zero temperatures in Valley,” he said, appealing to the Amnesty International, International Red Cross, Asia Watch and other human rights organizations to take effective steps to ensure that the detainees in jails are provided all possible facilities.
