HM’s revelation exposed Omar’s claim on AFSPA: Hurriyat (G)

Srinagar, Jan 13: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday said the startling revelation made by the Home Ministry that it had not received any recommendation or proposal from Jammu and Kashmir Government since 2002 for revocation or amendment of AFSA since 2002, had exposed the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his claim that he was pursuing the withdrawal of AFSPA.
“Like his predecessors the Omar Abdullah has also proved himself as a political opportunist who issues statements and makes ostensible efforts for AFSPA removal only for vote bank politics,” said a spokesman of the Hurriyat in a statement today, adding “Though we are for complete demilitarization of Jammu Kashmir but the AFSAPA provides a license to armed forces to kill people.”
The disclosure was made by the Home Ministry in response to an RTI application filled by the Advocate Irfan Hafiz Lone. “It totally exposed Omar Abdullah, proving that all that glitters is not always gold,” he said, adding that he (Omar) has not sincerely done anything to ensure the revocation of AFSPA.
The spokesman said the Home Ministry’s recent disclosure had proved that all pro-India politicians in the state were the chips of same block.
