Geelani for shutdown on January 26
Srinagar, Jan 18: The Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Tuesday called for a complete shutdown on January 26.
Paying rich tributes to Gaw Kadal, Handwara and Kupwara martyrs, Geelani demanded a probe into all these massacres by the UN War Crime Tribunal.
In a statement from New Delhi, Geelani also called for shutdown on January 21, at Basant Bagh Gaw Kadal area here, on January 25, in Handwara town and January 27, in Kupwara town in memory of the martyrs of these places.
He said in case of bad weather, special prayers would be held at local Masajid on January 21, 25, and 27, at Basant Bagh here, Handwara and Kupwara respectively and in case of fair weather, people would visit these places to mark the martyrdom these martyrs.
Geelani has appealed to the people to boycott all the January 26, related functions in the larger interest of the ongoing freedom struggle.
