Domestic LPG goes darer than costly commercial
Srinagar, Jan 20: A completely filled domestic cylinder, something rare in the City for now, must being sold at around Rs 1500 by black-marketers. This is what one could infer from the police revelation about seizure of cylinders.
The police has claimed to have seized over a hundred gas cylinders from a house in Natipora area while the accused managed to flee from the spot.
SDPO Sadder Shabir Ahmed Shah said a joint team from the police post Chanapora and Police Station Sadder raided the house and found the complaints of cooking gas hoarding true.
He said the accused Muhammad Hanief used to fill gas from commercial cylinders to domestic and sell the same at exorbitant prices in the open markets.
Given the fact that the government is giving domestic gas cylinders with mere five Kgs of gas, the police official said the accused would fill the domestic cylinders to its optimum because the same had a huge demand ion the open markets.
This hints at how exorbitant prices the accused could be selling the cylinders because the commercial lot is almost tripple the price of domestic one.
Meanwhile an FIR has been filed while police has started a manhunt to nab the accused.
