2 poachers arrested in Dal
Srinagar, Jan 23: Police Monday arrested two persons who were allegedly involved in poaching of migratory birds in Dal Lake.
The SDPO Nehru Ghulam Jeelani said police has launched a manhunt to nab the poachers following the killing of migratory birds particularly Coot which is protected under scheduled IV, in Dal earlier this month.
An FIR 3/2012 under section 50 and 51 of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1978 has already been registered against the accused in Police Post Nehru Park. Police had arrested one poacher and raided many places to arrest the other accused. Police identified the poachers as Javid Ahmad and Ishfaq Ahmad of Dal Lake.
