DeM concerned at Dr Aafia’s plight in US jail
Srinagar, Jan 23: The Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Syeda Asiya on Monday expressed profound grief and sorrow over the reports that Pakistani scientist Dr Aafia Sidiqui had conceived in the America jail and was suffering from cancer.
“It is unfortunate that no Muslim is raising his voice over the plight of a daughter of Umah in American jail. Dr Aafia Sidiqui’s lawyer has informed her sister Dr Fozia Sidiqui that her sister (Dr Aafia) has conceived due to sexual excesses and that she is suffering from cancer due to inhuman atrocities committed on her in the American jail. This incident betrays the Muslims’ helplessness before the non-Muslims in the world. It also shows how much regard, respect and importance the Americans have for Pakistan and its people,” said Asiya in a statement today.
Asiya has asked the Pakistan’s religious organizations like Jama’at-e-Islami, Jamiat-ul-Dawah and Jamiat-ul-Ulma to take effective steps for saving the honour and chastity of daughters of Umah.
Meanwhile, Asiya has appealed to the whole Umah in general and the Muslims of Kashmir and Pakistan in particular to organize special prayers for the release of Dr Aafia Sidiqui on Friday and hold protests against inhuman treatment being meted out to her in jail.
