Legislators’ CDF enhanced to Rs 1 crore

Srinagar, Jan 23: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday approved enhancement of constituency development fund (CDF) of the state’s legislators from present Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore. He also announced the increase of CDF to Rs 1.50 crore for next financial year starting from April 2012.
The decision to this effect was announced by the Chief Minister when a joint delegation of legislators from various political parties called on him here this evening and presented him a memorandum in this regard and relating to other issues.
The Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Muhammad Akbar Lone was also present in the meeting.
Talking to the Legislators the Chief Minister expressed the hope that the enhancement of CDF would help meet the specific development requirements of the people to a greater extent. He also expressed the confidence that the amount earmarked for CDF would be spent to the best advantage of the people.
Pertinently, the CDF of the Members of Parliament is Rs 2 crore per year.
