Revoke power of attorney of temple land: Kashmiri Pandits
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
Jammu, Jan 23: Kashmiri Pandits today demanded immediate revocation of power of attorney given by the Dharmarth Trust for the land where the Jawala Mata temple is located.
"We are astonished to learn that the Trust (which runs over 100 temples and their properties in Jammu and Kashmir) has recently entered into some deal with tillers for cultivable land of the shrine and one half of this land has been passed on to them," President of the Shri Jawala Ji Samiti (SJJS) M K Raina said.
Both cultivable and fallow land is available around the hillock which, as per revenue records, belongs to the Hindu community and is under the control of the Trust, he said.
"Dharmarth Trust should immediately take damage control measure by withdrawing the power of attorney of the land given to locals so that the faith of Kashmiri Pandits is restored in the Trust," he added.
