Army holds seminar on human rights

Kupwara, Jan 25: Army’s 8 sector Rashtriya Rifles under the aegis of Kilo Force organized a seminar on “Human Rights in Present Counter Insurgency Operations” at Sogam Lolab here on Wednesday.
The seminar was chaired by Commander 8 Sector Rashtriya Rifles and was attended by 60 officers.
According to the organisers, the seminar was held with a view to provide insight into the Human Right issues in the present counter insurgency/counter militancy operations, being undertaken by the Forces in the Valley particularly in Kupwara.
Officiating General Officer Commanding Kilo Force, who was the guest of honour asked the soldiers to follow directives on safeguarding the human rights. “Any violation is intolerable and would be dealt severely as per the law.”
He asked the soldiers to operate with no or minimum collateral damage. “The Army considers it important to sensitize its soldiers, who operate under challenging conditions.”
