Expedite filling up of ReT posts: LA panel

Jammu, Jan 25: Estimates Committee (EC) of Legislative Assembly today asked the Directors of School Education of Kashmir and Jammu to expedite the selection against the pending Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) vacancies.
 It also asked them to engage teachers under the ReT in a transparent manner.
 The Committee, which met here under the Chairmanship of MLA G M Saroori discussed and reviewed the functioning of School Education Department. It also discussed in detail implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes like Rashtriya Mahdaymek Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) besides the working of Higher Education Department.
 The Committee appreciated the Government for clearance of 1600 panels of ReTs in Jammu Division. It also appreciated the government for confirmation of Zonal Education Officers, Lecturers and Headmasters etc.
 The Committee asked the Director SSA to speed up the pace of work on all under execution Kendra Gandhi Bhawan Vidalaya (KGBV’s) and complete the same within a period of six months. The Chairman directed the concerned to use CGI sheet for construction of Roofing as per specifications. The Committee directed Director SSA to immediately release work done claims of KGBV’s.
 The Panel recommended construction of school buildings through R&B Department and mutual transfers of teachers.
 The Committee directed the SSA authorities to identify any new primary, and upgradation of schools after consulting the concerned Legislator. It also asked the RMSA authorities to consult concerned MLA while upgrading any high school under RMSA.
 Discussing the distribution of text books, the EC directed the  Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (JKBOSE) authorities to ensure timely distribution and supply of books to the concerned especially far flung areas of the State.
 Reviewing the status of the supply of Mid-day meals, the Committee recommended that the meals may be purchased from nearest ration depots. On the working of the Higher Education (HE), the LA Penal directed the Commissioner Secretary Higher Education and Commissioner Secretary Education Department to refer all vacant posts to Service Selection Recruitment Board (SSRB) and Public Service Commission (PSC).
 The Committee members including Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Chowdhry Muhammad Ramzan, A R Veeri, Ashok Khujaria,  Ashwini Kumar Sharma, Chowdhry Zulfkar Ali, Indu Pawar and Murtaza Ahmed Khan stressed upon the  officers of education department to release balance honorarium in favour of Education Volunteers (EVs), seasonal teachers for ST/SC population.
