Srinagar, Jan 25: Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association has expressed concern over violation of human rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, HCBA said, a meeting of the executive members of the lawyers body was held on Wednesday in which concern was expressed on the violation basic human rights, political and democratic rights of the people.
“The participants appealed to the international community to intervene and called upon the Government of India to desist from the state policy of repression and unabated Human Rights violations in J&K,” the spokesman said.
“Peace, stability and economic development could not be achieved in the sub-continent in a hostile atmosphere as the entire sub-continent is in a nuclear crucible in view of the unresolved Kashmir issue,” he added.
He said, “It is imperative for India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the basis of universally recognized and governable principle of people’s right to self determination.”
