Srinagar, Jan 27: Police today produced charge-sheet into the killing of Tariq Ahmad Bhat of Nowhatta, in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court here.
The sub divisional police officer, Nowhatta, Tahir Saleem Khan confirmed that charge-sheet has been filed against the four accused persons including Rayees, Haroon, Suhail and Ghulam Hassan.
“We have also recorded the statements of four witnesses under section 164 CrPC in the Court. Besides we have also seized the bat used by the accused to hit the deceased,” the SDPO said.
Tariq son of Abdul Salam Bhat of Ranghamam Nowhatta was seriously injured on December 3, 2011 when he was hit in head by a cricket bat. Following the incident, police registered an FIR no 84/2011 u/s 307,148,149 RPC. After battling with his life for 11 days, Tariq passed away on December 14. His death triggered protests in the Old City with separatists also condemning the killing.
