CHADOORA TOWN SANS PUBLIC LAVATORY, GARBAGE DUMPING SITE

Chadoora, Jan 29: Believe it or not! Chadoora town, which is one of the important places in Budgam district, has no public lavatory.
This according to the locals is causing huge inconvenience to the people especially those visiting the town from Charar-e-Sharief and other adjoining areas.
“Men are seen openly urinating on the road sides,” the locals said, adding these places emanate foul smell making the pedestrian movement difficult.
They said, the Municipal Committee, which was created in the town in 2005, had failed to construct lavatories for public.
Locals also alleged that Municipal workers are seen dumping garbage into the Doodh Ganga canal which flows through the Chadoora town.
“The Municipality workers collect garbage from the town and dump it in the canal. We appeal to the State Pollution Control Board to intervene in the matter,” the residents added.
“There is no town hall in the Chadoora town with the result social, religious and other cultural activities are held under open sky and during winters and rainy season it becomes very difficult to organise such functions,” the locals added.
Chadoora town is the central place which connects two important towns of the area and Charar-e-Sharief.
DDC Budgam says
When contacted, District Development Commissioner Budgam, Muhammad Rafi acknowledged that Chadoora town had no proper facility of public lavatory or town hall.
The DDC cited the non-availability of land in the main town as the reason. “We are in process to acquire land.”
