Education key to socio-economic development: Rana

Bajalta, Jan 29: Chief Minister’s Political Advisor, Devender Singh Rana, on Sunday described education as key factor in socio economic development and grooming of young generation into responsible and qualified citizens.
“Schools should be the seat of learning and institutions of human resource development,” Rana said while addressing a function here.
He emphasized on the need to nurture the children in a proper way as that would enable them to face the futuristic challenges bravely.
Rana said the coalition government led by Omar Abdullah has flagged growth of education sector on modern lines as one of the most important concerns in the government policy planning.
He said efforts were on to develop necessary infrastructure and provide better facilities to ensure quality education to the students. “Universalization of education and reaching out to far flung areas in the primary, secondary and higher secondary education fields is being carried forward simultaneously,” he added.
Rana said besides establishment of two Central Universities, 23 new Degree Colleges, 30 Polytechnics and 50 ITIs have been sanctioned to expand orbit of education across the state and enhance employability of the students. “Out of these 23 new Degree Colleges the Chief Minister fulfilled his commitment by providing people of Nagrota with Degree College at Jandrah”, he said.
Rana said vocational and technical education in the schools is must for skill development. “It should be made part of the syllabus to enable the students to get jobs easily in open market after they complete their education,” he added.
