Militant module busted in Bla: Police

ALTAF BABA

Baramulla, Jan 29: Police today claimed to have solved  many criminal cases including a grenade attack last year in Pattan, by busting a militant module.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla Dr Haseeb Mughal said on November 23 last year, a grenade was lobbed at an army convey at Pattan market. However, it missed the target and exploded near a shop injuring two persons namely Abdul Khaliq Bhat and Ghulam Muhammad Sofi of Pattan.
“We suspected that a local militant Nissar Ahmad Magrey alias Shakti of Kilawar Tangmarg of LeT had orchestrated the grenade attack through his network which works mainly in Palhalan area of Pattan.
During investigation, police arrested Shahnaz Ahmad Bhat and Zahoor Ahmad Lone who claimed that they are working for Nissar Ahmad Magrey. Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the duo,” the SSP said.
The SSP said the module was trying to create fear in the area by recruiting youth of Pattan and its adjoining areas to work for the outfit. “The module was also planning to target Maulana Abdul Rashid Dawoodi of South Kashmir, who was supposed to deliver a sermon in Indergam Pattan,” the SSP said.
The SSP also claimed to have successfully solved an attempt to murder case of Saloosa Pattan, in which Shahzad Khan of Check Saloosa, was attacked by some unidentified persons earlier this month. “The arrested person has been identified as Fayaz Ahmmad Magrey of Beerwah Budgam and Mushtaq Ahmmad Malik of Dompora Kreeri. Some arms and ammunition were also seized from them,” the SSP added.
