2 more held for drug trafficking: police

Srinagar, Jan 4: A few days after a woman drug peddler was arrested by Hazratbal police in the City, the cops on Wednesday nabbed two of her close relatives accusing them of being involved in the drug trafficking.
 Police said it arrested Fayaz Ahmad and Imtiyaz Ahmad of Lal Bazaar and claimed to have recovered 3.5 grams of Charas and brown sugar from their possession during a raid under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police, Hazratbal, Sheikh Faisal.
 The duo is son-in-law of Hameeda, who was arrested by police from Hawal in Shahr-e-Khaas and recovered 400 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs five lakh from her possession, police said.
 Confirming the development, Superintendent of Police (Hazratbal) Abdul Waheed told Greater Kashmir, that the police action was part of the campaign launched against the drug peddlers and those associated with the trade.
 “The police has launched a crackdown against those involved in selling the contraband and would take every possible step to root out the menace in the City,” Waheed added.
