Omar, Dr Farooq, Sheikh Nazir condole demise

Srinagar, Jan 4: Former MLA Muhammad Abdullah Mujahid, a close associate of National Conference founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah died here on Wednesday following prolonged illness.
Mujahid, 80, breathed his last at SKIMS hospital Soura here this morning, officials said.
The former legislator, who spent 12 years in prison with the NC founder, is survived by his wife and a daughter.
He was a member of the state Legislative Assembly from 1996 to 2002, representing Baramulla town constituency.
Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, expressed grief over Mujahid’s demise and described it a great loss to the people. He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said that late Mujahid Muhammad Abdullah was close associate of Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
He worked throughout his life for the upliftment of people and the State.
He said, Mujahid Muhammad Abdullah sacrificed all along to uphold the cause of people.
NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah and General Secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmad also expressed grief over the demise of the veteran party leader.
