Coalition empowered people: Rana
Manjakote/Mendhar, June 30: Chief Minister’s Political Advisor, Devender Singh Rana, on Saturday the collation government under the leadership of Omar Abdullah was committed to the welfare of the people with special focus on those living in far flung and remote areas.
Rana while addressing workers meetings at Manjakote and Mendhar on the third day of his tour to the twin border district of Rajouri and Poonch said, “Omar led dispensation has energized the State Accountability Commission, constituted State Information Commission, enacted legislation for Vigilance Commission and brought in historic legislation of Public Service Guarantee Act. This clearly vindicates the seriousness of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to curb the menace of corruption and bring transparency in functioning of the administration.”
He said the state government in the last three years had empowered people and given them the right to know and the right to question in the quest to bring transparency and accountability in the system. He said governance can only improve if the institutions are strengthened and the Omar led government has created revived institutions and restored their authority to ensure a better delivery mechanism.
He said that the innovative and befitting initiatives taken by Omar Abdullah-led Government to restrict the chances of corruption and book culprits of malpractices itself speak of their efficacy as these have been recognized throughout the country. “ PDP’s propaganda cannot eclipse these glowing initiatives taken by the Omar-led Government to curb the corruption and empower common people,” Rana added.
“Today any resident of the state can ask any question to the government about any financial transaction, physical status of works and other matters of relevance. A citizen is now empowered to ask questions about omissions and commissions by the administration”, he said citing the example of vibrant and free functioning by the State Right to Information Commission and State Accountability Commission in the state.
