Tathamulla sans healthcare facilities

5 years on Allopathic Centre yet to come up, locals suffer

Tathamulla (Uri): Signifying non-seriousness of the Government to strengthen the healthcare facilities in the State, the building for Allopathic centre at Tathamulla Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is yet to be completed despite passing of five years.
The locals said construction work for the Allopathic centre was started in 2007. However, they claimed that the construction was abruptly stopped after completion of its plinth.
“The Centre’s plinth is presently dumped under soil. The initiative to open a health centre was of paramount importance for us. Despite spending nearly one lakh rupees on the Centre, we fail to understand why its construction was left half-way,” the locals told Greater Kashmir.
The locals said in absence of a healthcare centre, they have to move to Boniyar. “This results in risk to lives of patients besides we have to incur hefty amount of money. In case of any emergency, we suffer a lot especially during night,” they added.
The village Sarpanch, Parveez Khan said the work on the Centre was started on the directions of the Minister for Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-u-Din.
“However, after the concerned contractors were not paid their dues, the work on the Centre was stopped,” Khan said adding nearly one lakh rupees was spent on the Centre’s plinth.
