2 of family die, 5 injured in highway mishap

Ramban, July 10: At least two persons died and five others of a family were injured when a Maruti car they were traveling in skidded off the road and plunged into the River Chenab near here early today morning.
 The body of a teenaged son of one of the injured woman Shamima Begum from Doda was retrieved from the river, the rescue team could not find the body of her minor daughter who was also feared dead.
 Police said that the car on way from Srinagar to Doda met with the accident at about 1 pm near Krul  area  and  rolled down   three hundred feet  and plunged into river Chenab.
 While the body of fourteen year old Khursheed Ahmed of  Dongra, Doda has been extricated, the search for his  sister Rubina  failed who is believed to  have washed away in the strong current of water.
 Ramban police and some local volunteers reached at the spot and started rescue operation. They evacuated the injured and shifted them to Ramban District Hospital, where doctors pronounced Khurshed Ahmed as brought dead.
 They said that all the victims were close relatives and belonged to district Doda.
 The injured have been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, Shamima Begum, Saqib Hussain, Muhammad Jhangir and Muhammed Altaf.
 The injured were shifted to district Hospital Doda for advance treatment.
