STUDENTS FACE INCONVENIENCE

Bimyar (Uri): Despite passing of seven years, the buildings for the Government High School Bimyar in Baramulla district are yet to be completed.
The construction work on the four buildings of the school commenced in 2005. However, even after missing many deadlines these buildings are still incomplete.
The locals mince no words to allege corruption and mismanagement of funds by the concerned authorities and contractors.
“The contractors along with concerned authorities managed to release funds allotted for construction of these buildings. Ironically, they have been delaying completion of these buildings,” they alleged.
In absence of basic infrastructure, students of the school face immense inconvenience.
“We are forced to share classes due to lack of space,” a group of students said.
When contacted the Zonal Education Officer, Boniyar Abdul Hamid blamed contractors for the inordinate delay.
“The delay in the construction work has been caused as the concerned contractors are demanding increase in the allotted rates. The Department has already registered an FIR against the concerned contractors. We are mulling to take legal action against the contractors in case of further delay,” the Zonal Education Officer said.
