Nighat Basu is first woman Dean of KU’s Faculty of Education

Srinagar, July 10: Professor Nighat Basu has been appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Kashmir.
 An official spokesman said Professor Basu assumed the office of Dean and Head, Department of Education, on July 9. She is the first ever woman Dean of the Faculty since the establishment of the Department of Education.
 Prior to her appointment as Associate Professor and then Professor in the Department, Prof Basu  has worked as Director State Resource Centre University of Kashmir. She has conducted a number of extension programs on education for J&K at national level and has coordinated a series of programs on literacy scenario while representing J&K at several national forums.
 “Professor Basu has completed three mega UGC sponsored projects and has penned a book Adult education: trends and strategies. She has several research papers to her credit and has produced a number of M Phil and Ph D scholars,” the spokesman said.
