Srinagar, July 10: A group of 18 participants attending the 3-day Cross-LoC Trade Conference here, called on N. N. Vohra, Governor Jammu and Kashmir, at Raj Bhavan, last evening. The Conference “Cross LoC Trade, Regional Development: Opportunities and Challenges”, is being organized by the Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation, a New Delhi-based NGO, with a view to exploring the future possibilities and opportunities of the trade and bringing together the stakeholders from both sides of the LoC.
Briefing the Governor about the issues to be deliberated upon at the Conference, Ms Sushobha Barve, Executive Director, Centre for Dialogue and Reconciliation, New Delhi, said that the stakeholders will assess the socio-economic impact of the Cross LoC trade over the past 4 years and bring about greater synergy between the traders and the Government Departments concerned for the smooth conduct of the trade.
The delegation discussed several suggestions in regard to the promotion of Cross LoC Trade. Ms Barve and other members of the delegation thanked the Governor “for taking keen interest in the promotion of Cross LoC Trade ever since its establishment in October 2008, during the period of Governor’s Rule.”
