TRC construction

This refers to the news report ‘Nowgam RTC constructed illegally’ (GK July 8).  That the Tourism Department has constructed the the TRC illegally doesn't come as a big surprise. This is how things happen in our poorly ruled State. We have reached a stage where such things don't embarrass any. The surprising part is that it took SDA two long years to realize that a mammoth building of Rs 12 crores, inaugurated by CM himself, was constructed under its nose, that too illegally. The last time SDA shot a notice to Tourism Dept was some 6 months back, indicating the bear is out of hibernation again. Now that SDA has shot a notice to Tourism Dept, it would be interesting to know what SDA plans to do further. Demolish the building?  Build and destroy. This is how the tax money paid by the citizens of the State lands into gutter, due to the negligence of incompetent, irresponsible and unaccountable govt depts.
It needs to be investigated how the Electric Dept provided the supply lines, how the PHE provided the water supply and sewerage facilities and worst still, how the Construction Dept started construction without checking the SDA approval. It is important to see what steps SDA is going to take to prevent this for future. Shooting a notice is not a solution to the problem. This is only "Shaal Chaleth Bathhen Loore". Putting a process in place that prevents this for future is the real solution.
