Mubarak Gul kick starts taekwondo championship
Srinagar, July 11: Advisor to Chief Minister, Mubarak Gul on Wednesday kick started one day Taekwondo championship at Government Girls Higher Secondary Nawakadal.
The championship was organised by the school management to encourage the students of the institution for taking part in co-curricular activities to make them physically sound.
Speaking on the occasion the Advisor said that government is paying focused attention to promote physical education across the State, adding that in this regard sports infrastructure is being upgraded in all areas especially education institutions for providing plate form to the students to take part in different sports activities.
The Advisor announced Rs. 45,000 for purchase of sports kits for the institutions out of his CD Fund. He appreciated the efforts of the school management for promoting physical education in the institution. He said the need of the hour is to mould students with modern education to compete them in various States, national level competitive examinations. He stressed upon the teaching community to pay focussed heed on the academic, moral and physical education of the students. He said “it is duty all of us to shine our children with quality and modern education for making them good citizens”.
The Advisor on the occasion presented mementos to the winner’s who participated in 1-day taekwondo championship.
He also presented a memento to District Development Commission, Srinagar, BA Khan who was also present on the occasion, besides large number of parents, sports lovers, students and staff of the institution.
